Artist's Comments

I started working on this and then realized that it looked really similar to a super old drawing of mine. I decided to stick with the same theme as the old one since I might enter it into the "kick your own ass contest" ( [link] ). I hope that the 7 year age gap between the two isn't a problem.

The background was causing me problems so I used a texture from :iconlilystox: here: [link]

Here is the old drawing if anyone cares. beware, it is hideous looking. [link]

I may make changes on this so feel free to comment on whatever you like.

Edit: made some changes thanks to ~dragonmajik's suggestions

Definitely an excellent improvement on the original idea

I really like that you have her looking straight out of the painting, it gives her a MUCH stronger personality, and she looks like she could kick some butt. I think the proportions are great, she's got a realistic body type (which I tend to appreciate in art, it's my bias ;) ). The ribbon of water is awesome :worship:

There is something about the arm pit of her right arm (left side of picture) that bugs me. I think it might be that you have the chest muscle disappearing into the triceps, rather than coming up more toward the shoulder muscles.

Even though she isn't intended to appear like a muscle head, I would think we'd see a little more distinction of the triceps going into the arm pit (I forget where they connect to bone, but it's not toward the front of the body), and the chest muscle leading up and blending into the shoulder muscle.

The other little quibble I have is that her right breast doesn't quite line up with the underlying muscle movement, but that might appear askew partly because of the way the chest muscles were drawn going into the triceps. You might also need to bump the shadow under it a little more to the left, that side just doesn't quite look right to my eye - the other side looks just right, though! :)

There's my thoughts! :twocents:

Thank you! It's a fun hairstyle to draw. I wasn't so sure how to do about shading/highlighting it, so I'm glad that you think it turned out well :)

I just noticed her clothing folds and dizzamn. What did you use for the background?
:iconvioletice:
the background was this stock photo of a slab of ice. I tried a couple things for the background by hand but they just weren't working out, boourns
